A PILGRIMAGE PAYS OFF FOR BRUNO

Below are the words of Bruno and a message of hope to all of us who occasionally make pilgrimages to the places our heroes have once trodden

My first trip to London was together with my wife in 1986. We stayed for two weeks because we had so much to do there; such as cross the Abbey Road at the same place as the Beatles 25 years before. It wasn't easy to do without being involved in a car accident!

I knew that Mick Tucker, in the 70s, lived in Chorleywood. I didn't have a big hope of finding him there, maybe he didn't live there any more. But it was a sunny day and I wanted to see this place where he had lived. When we arrived there we both loved Chorleywood. Give me a flat and a job and I will be there tomorrow. We walked around and I hoped to have enough luck and see Mick's house. The chances weren't big, because there were a lot private areas. I didn't want to be unfriendly and look into this areas uninvited. I tried to find Mick in a Telephone book, but there were pages full of Mick Tuckers. They must have another "telephonebooksystem" here in England! This one had maybe ALL the M. Tuckers from England. How should I find the right one? Did he have a secret number? We weren't too disappointed, it was beautiful weather and we were in a good mood. Then, suddenly I saw Micks big house! I knew it from the pictures I'd seen. But nobody was to see there and we walked away because we were tired and thirsty.

IT WAS PURE FETE THAT BRUNO WOULD MEET HIS IDOL MICK

We walked a while and saw that there was a festival near a forest. That's the right place for a drink. Good idea and after this we go back to London, Bayswater. From afar we saw three people; a woman, a child and a man. He looked very familiar. When they crossed our way I saw that the man, who had long black hair was Mick. He saw my self made Sweet T-shirt and stopped. I said: "You are Mick Tucker??? He said: "Yeah".

He offered us a drink in his house (we didn't say no). His house wasn't the one from the 70s anymore, but not far from there. We were sitting in Mick's house and I thought. It's crazy ,I don't believe that this is true, a really crazy situation. I hoped nothing would wake me up to see that it was just a dream, and I'd have to get up for work as usual.

Mick showed me a box full of records. Singles and LPs from different countries. I remember that the Australian singles Album was there. He said : "You can take every record I have two examples of."

There were a lot, but I didn`t want to take too much away. I took three great singles and asked him if this is okay. "Yes yes sure, " he said and signed the singles. He played us on tape the then unreleased new song "Reach out I'll be there. We asked to take some photographs. He was really very friendly and at last when we had to go, he drove us to the railway station at Rickmansworth.

He fulfilled another wish for me later. I gave him an Envelope and some paper for an autograph of all original members. I got it. Since he didn't play any more with Andy I didn`t see him after this. This was a real lucky day and whoever meets him in the future, say hello from me.

Bruno

This may sound like a total fairy-tale... You pop into a town and look for a house amongst thousands of others and find it, you go to a fete and meet your idol. He takes you home. He entertains you. Gives you records. Plays you demos and then drives you to the station! Oh come on please!!! It can't be true!

It can you know, and below are the pictures to prove it.

Makes you sick with jealousy doesn't it.....?!
