Back in the early seventies a force was released upon the world that was about to take the record industry by storm! Leaving the Earls High School, Halesowen in 1973 with 3 "O" levels clutched to his chest, Johnny Mogs, accompanied by his mother, and wearing his old school uniform, was interviewed for the post of Junior Trainee Apprentice Computer Operator with the MEB. His mother answered all the questions correctly and Mogs found himself, now wearing moderately flared velvet trousers, in full-time, and most importantly - paid - employment. His first weeks pay duly arrived, and his first purchase was the new Donny Osmond album, with other Osmonds records close behind (What .... no David Cassidy!). This was made up for over the next few years as Sweets Greatest Hits, Sweet FA, Give Us A Wink, Desolation Boulevard and Level Headed joined a growing collection of singles by the lads in his record collection. He gazed longingly at a copy of "All You'll Ever Get From Me" I came across in Priests opposite the Co-Op, and I have always harboured suspicions when it went missing during a party at his house, that it never went very far!
