LOST ANGELS

Gonna take control?

Elliott Tuffin and Band are becoming The Lost Angels.

Treading the boards as a tribute to SWEET, unarguably the best band the 70's produced, Elliott hopes to add a little more energy to the tribute circuit.  I asked him if it wasn't already being done by the likes of BC SWEET and SWEET's own (the man who is was etc) Andy Scott.  Was there room for a tribute band dedicated solely to one Glam Band, albeit THE Glam Band of the last century?  Elliott certainly feels there is.  He's kept well away from the word "Sweet" so as to avoid upsetting Andy Scott, or Stevie Priest (his ex-father-in-law-still-great-mates) and gone with a label that he feels is a great name for a rock band even without the link to Sweet.  Elliott rightly pointed out that it would only be Sweet fans who would know there was a link at all when the name is used.  "Lost Angels" was certainly a lesser hit in the UK.  If we'd wanted to just glam it up like many of the 70's tribute bands like Flairs then we'd be called the Blockbusters or something like that.  Lost Angels is a harder sounding name and reflects the Sweet as they really were.  We'll be doing a few of the Chinn/Chapman stuff like Hellraiser, but it'll be songs like Action and that great B Side, Burn on the Flame that'll be dominating the setlist.  I also have a great idea to recreate the RAINBOW gig from '73.  That'd be different - and I think the fans would love it.  I also intend to include a medley that Sweet did as a tribute to the WHO."

And will there be room for his trademark Joe Cocker encore?  We'll have to wait and see.

The lineup is Robert Sas on guitar (ex-John Coghlan Band who was introduced to Elliott by Mick Tucker),  Enzo Pepe on keyboards, Drew Murphy ex-BCSWEET on drums, and on bass Robin "out of his" Tree.  And of course... the man who is was and always will be Elliott Tuffin - Mr Elliott Tuffin.
